Dear friends,
As we begin the beautiful month of May, we celebrate the 1st Shabbat of the month with a congregational family dinner tonight. We will gather in the Spigelman Room at 6:30 pm (in-person and virtually on Zoom) for an abridged Kabbalat Shabbat/Maariv Service followed by some home ritual (after all the synagogue is our second home) with candle lighting, recitation of Ayshet Chayel (a woman of valor), blessing of the children, Yedid Nefesh, Shalom Aleichem, Kiddush, HaMotzi, and then a delicious "indoor picnic" Shabbat dinner!
We will also have a speaker on Medicare benefits and reflections from someone who has recently returned from Israel. Please mark your calendars (if you haven't already) for our congregation's trip to Israel, October 30-November 10 and stay tuned for an informational meeting that will take place in the coming weeks.
Tomorrow morning, we gather for Shabbat services at 9:30 am (in-person and virtually) as usual for our service featuring our Torah reading (the portion of Emor in the Book of Leviticus) and study. The duties of the Priests are further delineated, and we are introduced to all of the festival days in this Parashat as well as concepts of justice and punishment.
