Dear friends,
We are about to embark on a very special Shabbat/weekend which includes the celebration of Shabbat Shira (the song sang at the successful crossing of the sea), the holiday of Tu B'Shevat and Martin Luther King Day both occurring on Monday, January 17th.

At our services tonight at 7:30 pm (both in-person and on zoom as usual), I will be explaining on how the two holidays occurring on the same day is not entirely coincidental and how closely they are related to each other!
On Monday morning at the program at the Unity Spiritual Center, 5844 Pine Hill Road at 11 am, I will be speaking on the importance of lights in our faith while continuing to the comparisons between the secular holiday of ML King Day and the Jewish holiday of Tu B'Shevat. The commemoration will begin at 10:30 am on Monday, January 17th with a short march from the Union Missionary Baptist Church at 6235 Pine Hill Road to the Unity Center down the road followed by the program at 11 am which will consist of talks, music, and a dramatic performance to celebrate this important day. So, please join me tonight at 7:30 pm, tomorrow morning at 9:30 am for the reading of the Torah portion of B'Shalach and the singing of Shirat HaYam (the song at the sea), and for the march and program on Monday.
