Parashat Tetzaveh (you shall command) Exodus 27:20-30:10
HafTorah Ezekiel 43:10-27
Dear friends,
Happy Purim! Hope you are enjoying this day as we are instructed to "increase our joy" throughout the month of Adar, especially on Purim.
I very much enjoyed sharing the evening last night with song, revelry, and celebration as we read the Megillah detailing the rescue of the Jewish people while in exile by the courageous Queen Esther and Mordecai. We were especially well prepared to enjoy and understand the Megillah as it comes after last Shabbat's observance of Shabbat Zachor (the Sabbath of Remembrance) where we learn to blot out evil wherever we encounter it.
Tonight and tomorrow morning, we study the poriton of T'tzaveh at our Shabbat services. We have now reached beyond the middle of the Book of Exodus and continue the theme begun last week regarding the building of the portable Mishkan (Tabernacle). This week, we continue on its detailed description and on the dress and the functions of the Priests, the first of which are Moses's brother Aaron and his sons. All of this helps prepare us for Passover which now just one month away. Stay tuned for information on how we will gather on Zoom on the first night of Passover to read the first half of the Haggadah together in preparation for our home Seders.
