Greetings on another beautiful morning!
As we count each day during this period between Pesach and Shavuot, we continue to read and study in the book of Leviticus culminating in this week's portion of Kedoshim where we discuss the concept of holiness. This Shabbat, we begin our study with chapter 19 verse 15 where we are commanded to judge all whether rich or poor in righteousness and not to be a "talebearer". It is said that a slanderer is akin to a murderer as that person destroys a reputation which is as precious as life itself. We are taught to avoid hatred and vengeance and "love thy neighbor as thyself". Only when we follow these precepts, can we be holy as individuals and as a people. Please join us in-person or virtually on zoom tonight at 7:30 pm and tomorrow morning at 9:30 am.
This week, we will celebrate two holidays back-to-back. Tuesday evening/Wednesday is Yom Hazikaron (Israel's Memorial Day) and Wednesday evening/Thursday is Yom Ha'Atzmaut (Israel's Independence Day). It is fitting that these commemorations occur right after one another as they are so interrelated. Also, on Monday, our JCC delegation will be volunteering at Metropolitan Ministries in Holiday, FL through the lunch hours.
