Parashat Behar (on the mount) - Leviticus 25:1 - 26:2
HafTorah - Jeremiah 32:6 - 22
Dear friends,
I'm writing this on Lag B'Omer and hope you had a great one regardless of how you might have celebrated it. The 33rd day of the Counting of the Omer represents a break in the solemnity of the counting between Passover and Shavuot and is often marked with bonfires, picnics, parades, fireworks, etc. in Israel and parts of the diaspora. I am spending the day preparing to fly back to Florida from NJ and looking forward to seeing you in person as well as on Zoom tonight at 7:30 pm and tomorrow morning at 9:30 am.
This week, we read the next-to-last portion of the Book of Leviticus, Parashat Behar including the instructions for the Sabbatical and Jubilee years, and the laws of indentured servants and those relating to debts. In Chapter 25, verse 10, we encounter the immortal words inscribed on the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia. "Proclaim liberty throughout the land and to all of its inhabitants thereof."
Looking forward to seeing you soon and wishing you a Shabbat Shalom.
Ron Becker,
Spiritual Leader
