Rosh Hashanah has arrived!
I'm looking forward to sharing this wonderful High Holy Day season with you (in-person or on Zoom) throughout the coming weeks beginning this afternoon at 5 pm when we have our Shabbat/erev Rosh Hashanah service early enough so that we can all proceed to our homes or wherever we will be enjoying our Yom Tov dinners with friends and family.
Tomorrow morning, we will have our Shabbat/Rosh Hashanah service at 9:30 am. Then at 6:30 pm, we will re-gather for the Mincha (afternoon) service followed by apples, honey cake and Railroad Square Challah followed by the evening service.
Tomorrow (Saturday) there are seven aliyot (honors reciting the Torah blessings) in the morning and three additional ones at Mincha. Then on Sunday, there are five additional aliyot. Please let me know if you would like to have one whether you will be participating in-person or virtually!
We do not blow the Shofar on Shabbat, but we will be doing so on Sunday and are honored to have Sara Sekeres with us once again this year. Sunday's service begins at 9:30 am. Then at 3 pm, we gather at my home at 6822 Grand Boulevard between Kentucky and Vermont Avenues in New Port Richey for our annual Taschlich service and reception.
Finally, please mark your calendars for Shabbat Shuva (a week from now) when on September 23rd, our adult Bnai Mitzvahs Ana Calderon, Barbara D. Johnson, Barbara E. Johnson, and Art Simon will chant their Haftorah and sponsor the Kiddush luncheon. Then on the next morning (Sunday, September 24th) we gather at the Sukkah at 10 am to mount our beautiful decorations and prepare for one of the most joyous times of the year. Please feel free to bring your own decorations as well. Chris and I bring the Shana Tova cards that we have received from friends and family and string them up in the Sukkah! And that evening, at 6:30 pm, we have our Kol Nidre/erev Yom Kippur service. And we continue to celebrate holidays well into October, but more on those at next week's message.
Again, I am looking forward to greeting you all tonight and again, sharing this season with you! !לְשָׁנָה טוֹבָה
