SUKKOT 2025
SUKKOT 2025

Dear friends, I hope you are enjoying this wonderful Sukkot holiday season and look forward to continuing the celebration this Shabbat Sukkot Chol HaMoed (the Sabbath of the Intermediate Days of Sukkot). Thanks to all who decorated our beautiful Sukkah, to those who have provided refreshments, and to all who have attended our religious services and activities to date. For those who have yet partaken in these activities, please come out to the synagogue this Shabbat (tonight at 7:30 pm and tomorrow---Saturday---at 9:30 am both in-person and virtually on Zoom) and throughout this wonderful holiday season to assure that we have a minyan and that you will have an opportunity to personally handle the Lulav and Etrog that we have procured and share good food and company in the Sukkah!

On this special Shabbat Chol HaMoed, we read selections from the often quoted Book of Ecclesiastes attributed to King Solomon under the pseudonym of Kohelet, son of David. Ecclesiastes explores the meaning of life, reckoning with death, futility, and purpose. It teaches that "there is a time for everything" and that “all is vanity” and “nothing is new under the sun,” and concludes by asserting that life’s purpose can be found in adherence to the mitzvot. We will also chant Hallel (psalms of praise) and a special Torah reading from the book of Exodus which includes the thirteen attributes of Hashem that we repeat often during this High Holy Day season.

Hashem is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger, abounding in kindness and faithfulness, extending kindness to the thousandth generation, forgiving iniquity, transgression, and sin.

Finally, we will enjoy Kiddush and Motzi in the Sukkah.

Chag Sukkot Sameach!

Spiritual Leader
